It's time for "1st Saturday"...! ( 9 am - Noon or... later)
We will be doing something different this month. Please bring, (if you have one) an old pillow case that is still good, but you don't use it any more. We will be making something for Haiti out of that pillowcase. It will be fun, educational and something that we think will be useful in Haiti.
We will probably order pizza for lunch.
Supplies: 1 or 2 pillow cases; 1/2" elastic; wide bias tape to match the pillow case, trims (lace, etc that will match your pillow case. (Sewing machines and the usual "stuff"
This will be fun...! Questions...call me: 417-781-1871 (Joyce)

Blankets for Haiti
150 Blankets for Haiti were delivered to Heart to Heart in Kansas City on Sunday afternoon. I was contacted over the weekend by 2 different nurses from St. John's Medical Center. They were asking about the possibility of taking Project Linus blankets on a medical trip to Haiti. This will be with the group that has been mentioned several times in the Joplin Globe. We have some (close to 100) but if you have more of the single or double layer (no batting) blankets, we will take them and get them ready to send with them.
Isn't it wonderful that in Southwest Missouri, we can reach clear to Haiti to help children. The amazing thing is this: Even with sending all of these blankets, we will have more blankets coming in for our local agencies than we usually have. Your generosity is fantastic.

WHAT A GREAT DAY !!
Our "1st Saturday" quarterly meeting was fantastic. There were 34 there and the results were wonderful. We started off with 195 blankets and afghans that were brought in. We ended with a total of 341!!!! Give yourselves a pat on the back!
It was a good day and a tremendous amount was accomplished...and the soup was good too!
The blankets that we promised for Haiti will be on the way next week.
We have a good volunteer that has offered to take them to Kansas City.
I want to thank all of you who helped make this a really good day!

Nov 17...
THANK YOU to all of you who helped to make our first "1st Saturday Quarterly" meeting. We worked on fleece, met to women who are with Jasper County Sheltered Services and Connections Case Management. They will be the recipients of our labors from this work day. They have many children who are in wheelchairs. Their Christmas wish for these children is for each of these children to have a heavy fleece blanket to use with their wheelchairs. I think we have accomplished that. Not only have we made enough blankets for all of their children, we have also given them stuffed animals and books. Each of these blankets and books will be wrapped for the children's Christmas party. Isn't it great that we can help others?
